The Surpising Upside of Death Panels
or
Why Old People should just Die Already

In the midst of this hopping good time of a raging shouting match / debate I hear all these people getting up in arms about death panels. I just don’t get that. It seems like most people don’t realize all the great benefits of death panels. So I thought I would briefly run them down here for further discussion.

Now, all satire aside
In case you are super-dense, this is all supposed to be satire. I don’t actually want old people or unborn children to die.

Maybe now we can move on and debate the actually important stuff on this health-care reform. Like, say, how are we going to pay for some of these proposals? Or, what does an electronic medical record actually look like, and how will we standardize the format to make these systems interoperable? Or, how much government is too much? What do we have to do to fix the situation of 46 million people in America don’t have health care, and 14000 loose health care every day and 8 million went bankrupt last year due to medical bills?

People have asked throughout my weight loss process what I’ve been doing, and I give some tips on things that have been helpful to them, but I haven’t aggregated links and tips into one place yet. So I thought, being almost 5lbs past half way (that is negative 58lbs since Jan 1, 2009) on my journey towards what I weighed when I entered college, it seems like a good time.

• Got an ubuntu VM set up in virtualbox. Then installed openfire XMPP server and google wave extension. Now to tweak, learn, and hack. #

• Just ran into another brick wall. The vendor changed our solenoid bank from sourcing signals to sinking w/o explicitly noting it. #
• Wow, huge storm blowing towards White Bear! Looks like I'm stuck here, I should move away from this giant window on the manufacturing floor. #
• Was walking the manufacturing floor when the power went out, and the system went down hard. Makes a big clank noise. About pooed my pants. #
• Think it is about time to pack it in for today. Wrap up the XML editing at home on my couch tomorrow. #
• Had to miss a Jewish wedding today cuz Lauren is sick. I'm a sad man who was waiting for a legitimate reason to say "Mazel tov!" #

• In bed at 4:30am, up and getting ready to work at 8AM. Loving the 3hrs of sleep, but the puppy is worth it. More pictures later today. #
• Loving the puppy, and we have a houseguest we are dog-sitting. We went from 0 to 2 dogs in 2 days in the house. #
• It is gonna take a while to get a new morning routine down w/ dog. Running hella late this morning. #
• USPS tracking and time-to-deliver SUCKS! They wonder why they are losing money to UPS and FedEx. Delivery via UPS 4 days, USPS 6 days. #fail #
• Dogsitting a boarder collie named Gwen who has decided she doesn't like my puppy. Maybe taking her on my run will lighten her mood a little. #
• Down to 1 dog in the house. Loved Gwen, but she didn't love our puppy, so she is staying with another friend until her owner gets home. #
• "The Power of Positive Dog Training": In 3 days our dog has learned to lay down, and is starting to walk with a loose leash. #win #

• Some days I feel like I am meant to do something besides controls engineering. Do you have any suggestions on possible career paths for me? #

• After two episodes I feel that Breaking Bad is vastly inferior to Weeds. Very disappointed. #

• Probably do a proper marathon tomorrow or next weekend. Taking suggestions for episodes to watch 2nite. Thoughts/favorites? #
• Working on Saturday creates a hard-to-focus situation for me. Especially since I have some new ideas that require a lot of homework. #
• I'm rolling now. WHy is it that all my good progress happens later in the evening? I would rather been home earlier! #
• Wrappin it up, heading home. No good progress will be made from here on out. Proof reading what I wrote tomorrow is a good idea. #
• Had a nice lunch with friends, now some working out and then BSG. #
• Watching BSG season 3. Looking forward to watching it straight through, beginning to end, very soon. #
