Evangelicals going green according to MSNBC

Sort of an interesting article about a shift in thinking amongst people in my generation who classify themselves as evangelicals vs the stereotypical / recent history of evangelical thinking on the topic.

The most interesting bit, from my point of view, is that someone has written an EnergyStar guide for congregations. http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=small_business.sb_congregations

Also, Mars Hill Bible Church (in Michigan, not the one in Seattle) has some really interesting sermons from a series they did in July called “God is Green” which were pretty light on the biblical content, but very strong in the helpful ways to reduce your energy usage. (I’m not sure those sermons are still available on their podcast, but I have them, and they are available in their pay per download section of their archives).

Being that my company is big into the solar stuff right now, I’ve been getting more and more interested in ways to reduce my energy usage, and I think that ties pretty nicely into my plan for how churches can improve their usage of technology. (I mean improve by being more responsible with how they spend money on it, and how what they do can impact the world both directly and in a ripple-effect way for God’s Kingdom, and how they can more effectively use what they have to increase productivity)

Seriously, we need help at work

So, things are uber-crazy at work right now for me, and for our entire engineering and manufacturing teams.

So we have a TON of jobs open. Check out the ones here listed as “St. Paul” for the location.

If you know someone who knows someone, have them contact me directly at either bcatlin _AT_ veeco _DOT_ com or bigcat1 _AT_ gmail _DOT_ com so I can pass their resume on by hand (this has a serious advantage here)

Particularly we have only had ONE resume for the Electrical Engineer, and they were more VHDL and VLSI stuff, not controls so much, so they wouldn’t necessarily be a great fit.

Just a note, don’t be daunted by any of the experience requirements. Send us people with as little as a year experience. Hell, if you think someone who is just out of school might be a good fit, especially if they have a little co-op or intern experience, send them my way. I’ll filter stuff, and then put it past my boss, so don’t fear sending me anyone who has some level of education or experience in these areas.

Again, a friends uncles sons buddy is an acceptable candidate in terms of your connection to them here.
