I was annoying Lauren last night with my attempts at bringing out the harmonics in my voice, and I was somewhat successful. But I got to thinking that there has to be some better websites for this kind of thing. And I found a good one.

This guys site has good mp3 examples of people actually singing, and using the overtone singing in songs with instruments, and the guy is from Minneapolis …. a sign perhaps?. I have to say that I find this completely fascinating, and I am going to endeavor to learn how to do this stuff, even if it means annoying all my roommates, because this is just plain cool. Also, while I think I can bring out a soft overtone, I am finding it difficult to make it loud enough to stand out, or I feel like instead of isolating an overtone and amplifying it with the shape of my mouth, I’m actually whistling by using the back of my tongue to keep just a small amount of air passing by it…maybe that is what they do, but I am still working on it. I really love the “sygyt” style. It sounds like someone is playing a flute…thats cool. Well, now I must go to work, later people.
