I found this article, and all I can say is Wow. Some of these court decisions amaze me. Right now the court is easily the strongest branch with the least checks and balances against it. Only the courts can completely re-write the law,….oh, I’m sorry….I mean “interpret” the law how they see it. But seriously they are just re-writing the law, even re-writing the constitution to the point that the separation of church and state no longer means protecting the church from the government as well as protecting the government from religious fanaticism, it now means discriminating against Christianity because it was the status quo. Liberal judges re-writing law to suit their personal ideologies instead of applying the law as it is written to a given circumstances. That just annoys me. All these cases are ridiculous…I mean suing the Catholic church and the Boy Scouts, come on. But the last case that reached the supreme court was the icing on this cake. It isn’t often that the dissenting opinion is worded so strongly, or at least some of the court cases where I have bothered to go ahead and read the dissenting opinion rarely seem to use such strong language.
Well enough bitching about that. I also saw a neat but simple article about programming versus personal relationship ministry. A nice simple, and concise read about an issue I’ve been somewhat dealing with.
Also, due to many events over the past week or so, I’ve been thinking a lot about who I am, and where I come from. Which is why I’m going to be writing some (probably long) things that are just about me expressing my thoughts on my self identity, and where I come from, spiritually / theologically, and family.
That’s all for tonight.
Edit: UMC started boycotting Taco Bell today, that’s ugly for me…gonna make it a little harder to go out to eat in Jacksonville when I go home. Makes me glad I’m not United Methodist anymore. Although they are boycotting for good reasons, and a part of me feels bad and thinks maybe I should join that to, I just love that Taco Bell…so good, and cheap. Also, check this over for spelling errors….my posting thing didn’t find any spelling errors, which means it’s probably broken. So if you see a misspelling post a comment about it.

I didn’t have much time to grasp the article or the concept… but I am joyfully rejoicing that the state is covering birth control now! 🙂

You spelled ‘interpret’ incorrectly. I probably did too. Concise is also wrong. That’s all I caught. I love you!

They are talking about the Catholic church being forced to cover birth control in their health plans for the non-catholics they hire. Which is crap because they are making a religious instituition do something that is against their religious beliefs. But that is just one of the cases the article talks about.
But the state covering birth control sounds like a good thing to me.
