Vineyards in CA

I went to a Vineyard in Laguna Nigel (very close to an In ‘n’ Out I used to frequent) and I have to ask this question. Does anyone in the CA Vineyard have any idea how to preach correctly. Why is it that they have such an awesome worship, great ministry, and then this guy preached for an hour on a fairly boring topic, and he repeated his point like 100 times. It would have been a great sermon if it was 15 minutes, but this repetitious kind of droning just wore me out.

This guy preached on repentance, but he made one or two points about it, and then repeated them. I have no dilusions of being a good writer, I know I repeat myself, I know I am overly verbose in how I describe things. But I don’t pretend to be awesome at it. I convey my point, in my journal, and I let other people wade through it at the leisure. I don’t subject them to it in public, essentially trapping them for an hour in a seat while I repeat myself.

Well, there is other stuff to say about that weekend, but I thought this was a good quick point I could make. I suspose I can try that church and Anhiem again to see if they were just having a bad sermon week. Plus I want to get some of the intensity they seem to all have in their worship and ministry time. I always feel jazzed up when I’m there for that part.

I wonder if a bunch of CA preachers in the Vineyard are just bad, and relying on the worship and ministry to grow their church. Not a terrible approach, but I would like to make sure that the stuff I’m involved in is a little more wholistic, and tries to do well at all areas of ministry. I have heard criticism leveled at Vineyards in general along these lines, but all the people I hear in IL or MN are better than the two guys I’ve heard preach in CA. And Jeanne said she went back to Anahiem and the different guy that spoke that time was really bad too.

Well, that is odd for the area and the individual church that started a denomination.
