Well, believe it or not, Aaron is actually married. Yes, my brother who constantly used to say “Women are too expensive” and “I would rather have a corvette than a girlfriend” is now married.
I got up bright and early at 4:30am last friday to catch the light rail for my flight.
I had a nice time visiting with my relatives. I almost always wish I had longer to talk to them. I did manage to corner my grandmother and get her to tell me stories about her and Grampa met. Dad says I now know more than he does about their marriage.
Saturday Aaron, David, Sam (my new psuedo-adopted brother), Lauren, Krysta (Davids GF), and Bethany (Aaron’s wife) all went to one of the caves in the park. It wasn’t too long before Krysta, Bethany and Lauren were all watching Aaron, David, Sam and I scale ledges to get into the back areas of one cave above a waterfall. My wife threatened me quite a bit…but much to her pleasure it was without cause because I managed to keep from falling the 12 feet onto a rock or the 45 degree cave stream.
Exploring caves is exhuasting. I am way out of shape.
I also managed to buy Aaron the same DVD player I own at Walmart…I later convinced Dirk and Val that it was a good buy as well.
Then we did some more stuff w/ the family, and helped all the wedding party get situated as they arrived at the hotel.
Sunday, we got up early, ate a good breakfast, then did a rehersal…where I spent most of the time trying to make Aaron laugh since he was so uptight. Then we got dressed, and took pictures…again, I spent most of this time trying to help Aaron relax…he was goosed in most of the pictures to make sure he smiled good.
Then the wedding which was great. It wasn’t quite as hot by then cuz the sun ducked behind a cloud (yes it was outside). I had some interesting observations about the unity candle at their wedding, but I’ll hold them for a time when I’m feeling more sentimental.
Besides noticing that my parents were right in saying that Aaron’s mother-in-law doesn’t like him, I think things went well.
Afterwards we took
Then we played scrabble with some remaining relatives after Dirk and Val dropped us off at the Inn.
Monday, we ate lunch w/ Mom, Dad and Sam, then we drove to the airport. I got to spend the better part of two hours talking to my Dad alone in the truck, which was nice. Not often anymore I get to do that. He looks really good, and I hope this job works out well for him. Him and Mom both said that as much as they wanted to get out of Winchester they never realized exactly how much it was hurting both of them to be there until they were gone. And that is saying a lot because it was pretty obvious that they were miserable (at least to me it was).
Then a few flights later, and another train ride and we were home. It is good to be back even though it is nice to see family.
And that was my crazy weekend.
Last night we started watching Firefly. That show is a lot of fun. I don’t think it is as good as 24 or West Wing (season 6 still sucks), but it is pretty darned good. My Aunt said that I should check out “6 feet under” If anyone knows anything about that show, let me know if I would like it, cuz I might want to check it out.
That is all for now I suspose.
