Trial by Fire

Holy crap it has been a crazy few days. Lots of stuff to talk about, so I’ll post some fancy stuff under some cuts.

Well, we got the new phones, I like them a lot, both of them. Lauren likes here phone, which came with some free Norah Jones video and songs.

I’ve already found a few bugs in mine, and I’m going to call Nokia about it, but it is nothing that would be a deal-breaker, just some things I would like fixed.

My phone really got tested this week while I was out and about on the western side of the country. Stood up to it pretty well, and took some crappy pictures (my fault, not the cameras). I listened to a sermon on the plane with the phone, using the “Offline” mode where it shuts off the phones radio, but lets you use the mp3 and video players. Good sermon BTW, by Schmelzer, from sometime in may, it is about why fighting with people is good and bad.

Pictures of new phones are here. The different shots with and without the case for my old phone is just because Rob teases me about needing cases for all of my technology.

About Las Vegas…

Let’s just say it is a good thing we aren’t planting a church there. I refrained from doing anything to crazy for a day, but living there for a while might be hard.

Besides that I went to this convention that had huge amounts of big-time people there. Some of these booths were worth more than our yearly budget. They had second floors and meeting rooms, and miles and miles of the newest slot machines. It made me a little sad to see that much money being tossed around. I coudn’t help but think that most of Africa could eat for a year or so on the cost of putting on this convention. Very Sad.

Other than that, I met up with my Aunt and Uncle who live in Vegas, had dinner at a Bavarian restraunt (good suasage), and then saw the new Wynn casino (I’ll post a picture later). That place is sweet…like the Ballagio is sweet. Huge too. Finally, I crashed out due to feet exhuastion, and got up the next morning and did more convention walking.

I suck at this convention thing…I hate walking around trying to insert myself into other peoples buisnesses.

Finally, I went back to the hotel picked up my bags, walked back to the Hilton and picked up the new Mono-Rail to the south end of the strip. Then, got a cab from MGM to In ‘n’ Out (cost about $6). Picked up a #1 Animal Style, and got two extra double-double’s for the road…an experiment to see how well the food microwaves. Then, I caught another cab to the airport for about $13.

So my trip to In ‘n’ Out cost me something like $15 over what it would have cost me to just go straight to the airport. I figure that is OK though since I didn’t eat dinner on my Boss’s buck (my aunt and uncle wouldn’t let me pay for dinner).

Then, checked in, made the guy behind me in line jelous because I had In ‘n’ Out, and ate my food at the gate, and brought two burgers and some fries home. The flight was OK, and the lady next to me was nice, and we talked quite a bit, so it was a good time.

All-in-all, not an amazing trip, but a good time anyway. Maybe next time I won’t suck so much at interfacing with potential customers….that is if there is a next time, I really hate sales.
