In other news I could speak in tongues while praying this morning. I got prayer for that, and I’m pretty confident that it actually was the gift of tongues.
I was interested by the odd sensation of joy that accompained much of my morning walk while praying. I find that irregular, but lately the time I spend doing that is good, and it seemed better while, and immediately after each time I prayed in tongues. I think I’m going to go for walks every morning until I can’t for some reason.
Do you ever wonder why if spiritual things are susposed to be so powerful, and so useful to overcome addictions, pains, hurts, and such, why does the sin or addiction have so much power in the first place. Aren’t those things sort of opposites. And shouldn’t the feeling of repentance and redemption be always as satisfying as the sin itself, and not as painful as it is? Lots of sins are a lot of fun, and exhilerating, and easily obtainable. Usually only the aftermath, or late reprocussions keep us from participating in sins prior to our salvation. But repentance is sometimes painful, and while redeption is relieving and often great, a lot of time it is just plain hard work.
Hmm..odd questions today. I guess that is what I come up with when I try to meditate on this thing I heard Piper say the other day. He said: “If something is worth fighting for, it is worth rejoicing over.”
