So our house was busted into today. Someone busted in our kitchen window while we were all at work, and stole stuff, and then left the back door open.
Missing Items:
- Wii and 1 Wii-mote
- All Wii Games – but the guitar for guitar hero, and attached wii-mote still remain intact
- Digital Camera we bought in late summer
- New Laptop – ironically which came with theft tracking software which I never installed cuz I forgot about it.
- Old Pentium 3 laptop that we had loaned / given to our roomate
- Dignity and sense of safety in my own home
We have a $1000 deductible so I’m pretty sure if we get list price on the important things (i.e. everything except the old laptop and my diginity, because those were much older and harder to value) I bet I can walk into best buy or somewhere similar with a list and how much money I am going to pay for everything on the list….which will coincidentally be about $1000 less than the list price.
I’m most sad that our budget spreadsheets, the pictures we moved from the camera to the laptop, my game save-files from the wii, and Lauren’s schoolwork. Cuz everything else is replaceable.

I hope they find the asshole that did it. When I think about somebody doing that… well, again, it makes me a pretty lousy Christian. I’d want to inflict serious pain on the person. Not because of the items, although that would piss me off, but for the intrusion into my personal space. There are very few things that infuriate me more.
Jail is too good for people that destroy peoples’ sense of security like that.
But just so you know… you haven’t lost your dignity. It isn’t your fault — don’t blame yourself.

It will be OK man. I’m not too worried about my dignity really, it was mostly a joke. There isn’t much we can do to prevent these kinds of things other than move, and even that is guaranteed. And besides if we move out to the burbs cuz of stuff like this, only jerks will end up living in the city.
I am most upset about feeling weird in my house now though.
It was probably just someone trying to get drug money, and we will be able to replace almost everything if not everything, so it isn’t that terrible.
