First Day at Work

Well like most first days it was nothing terribly exciting. I sat, I read product catalogs, I changed the CD key on some windows xp machines to match the license we had for them, I sat, I took a couple of pictures of some boards, I read websites on our products, I read our website, I read our suppliers websites, I sat, and I went out to eat with my boss for lunch. The commute in to work was easy, it took probably less than 40 minutes, and the commute home was also about that long. I took a different way home to avoid the mess that is 94, 35W, 394 and that tunnel all within a mile of each-other. I flew home, only slowing down for the 35W interchange (which was unavoidable). So I think the company is pretty cool. I would like some more stuff to do, but first days are first days, there is rarely much to do besides fill out forms, and read manuals and handbooks.

The people are pretty cool there. There are about 4 guys roughly my age working as techs in the back room, putting things together. I helped them out some today. That was pretty cool. Lauren made dinner for Liz and Aly and me, which was good. Tomorrow we are either going to small group at Caleb and Jenny’s or we are cooking dinner for Kelli and Adrian (and probably Liz and Aly, but I’m assuming that just goes without saying now).

So that pretty much sums up whats going on. Except, I saw this funny thing today. I saw a Lexus SUV in front of me on the freeway with a “Vote Kerry / Edwards” sticker in the window. That struck me as particularly ironic based on the classical ideal of the democratic party….which of course they no longer embody, but that is neither here nor there…it was still ironic to me…and made me chuckle.
