I forgot something very important in my last post…which is just as well since it was long anyway. I got some new CD’s. One of them is the new Cake cd called “Pressure Chief”, the other is this great new band I stumbled on because of a local radio channel called Luce. I got their great self-titled album, it is their first album, and they are working on a second CD I heard. I think they are cool because they have this laid-back kind of sound, some good horns in the background, and just a lot of mellow and fun tunes. I really like the song “Good Day” and “In the Middle There”. The second one is just funny cuz it is about a guy looking a hot girl across the room and has a rising problem as he tries to talk to her. Good times. Anyway, Alex, Daniel, Dirk, I’ll bet you guys would like this stuff.
As for the Cake CD I’ve decided like the Star Trek Films, Cake CD’s adhere to the law of evens. For those of you who don’t know what this is, watch Star Trek: the movie, and then immediately watch Star Trek 2 (arguably the best star trek movie) and then so on and so on. You will see that 1,3,5 are all OK, or not very good at all depending on your tastes, but 2, 4, and 6 are all pretty damned good no matter who you are. This somewhat continues into the next gen movies too, with the 3 movie being like a long episode, and the 1st movie mostly pushing younger fans away with the appearance of Captain Kirk. And 2, and 4 are pretty good….although, 4 I didn’t like very much.
OK, enough of that….Cake CD’s…that is what I was talking about. The first one, was good, but not great, the second one = THE AWESOME, third…again, pretty good, but not as good as the last one, 4th = AWESOME…who doesn’t like “Short Skirt, Long Jacket” or the song “Comfort Eagle” …or most the rest are great. The new CD is good, but not awesome like 2 and 4…but I like it. The good songs aren’t on the radio I think. I like “Guitar Man” and “Carbon Monoxide” and a couple of the songs off the bonus CD I got for pre-ordering are good…probably should have been on the album since they sound different than a lot of the other normal Cake style songs.
Well,…what else….oh yeah, we bought a car today. A 2001 Saturn SL2. We got a pretty good deal. If the insurance ever miraculously kicked in from the accident it would cover most of the new car. We need to get full coverage on the car from a new insurance place before we can take it home, but we will handle that soon, we were going to do that anyway, but this will push it a little. We need to cancel our AAA insurance really bad, that place (the champaign office anyway) = THE SUCK. So Lauren will have a car to drive, and I will know that she can come get me if the BMW breaks down on the way to work.
Details….the car is a goldish color, manual (5 speed….Ben likey) about 50K miles, cd and tape player (you don’t see that much anymore) which is nice because it means I can use a cheap tape adapter instead of those stupid expensive FM transmitters to listen to the Ipod in the car. 4 door, ABS, traction control, front wheel drive. This car is decked out to be ready for Lauren to drive in the winter….while I do doughnuts in the BMW.

I’ve been listening to cake today, it’s friggin awesome. I’m listening to the new cd right now. I’ll let you know what I think of it. Hope everything goes well with the car.

Yeah, listen to the songs I mentioned…I think “No phone” that they play on the radio is just kinda boring, and there are a couple other sons I don’t like well. If you want to listen to the bonus CD that I got for pre-ordering it let me know and I’ll send you the mp3’s.
Also, check out Luce…that cd is on rhapsody…I already checked at Jeff and Q’s.

Can I do the Blockbuster offer without paying anything? The Blockbuster site seems to say that I have to cancel before the two-week trial is over or they’ll charge me $19.99 for a month. The freeflatscreens page says I have to NOT cancel to get credit for the offer. Am I missing something?

Sign up for the free two weeks…keep it a few days or a week, cancel it if you don’t like it. You will get credit, you can cancel it online. The idea is to get people to actually try the offers…no just sign up and cancel right away. SO just sign up, keep it for a few days, maybe get a couple dvds, then cancel before the two weeks…you will get credit for the offer. I did that with AOL and got credit, so it should be all good.
