I agree with this article almost 100%.
Municipal WiFi isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I just don’t feel like it is the right tool for the job in a lot of cases. I know Minneapolis is rolling out a city-wide wireless network, and I can’t help but feeling like it is a square peg in a round hole for this city.
But I would really like to see fiber installations to the home done by the city, which I believe would create competition in this market which badly needs it for phones, cable, and internet.
