When it comes to computing in the second and third world countries there is no viable alternative to Linux. This is another article just highlighting a few of the merits to it being implemented in the Philippines.

I believe Linux is the future for our children. Teach them well linux, teach them well.
Barnbas Howard says
I believe that children are our future
Teach them Linux and let them lead the way
Show them all the freeware they possess inside
Give them a sense of bash to make it easier
Let the children’s sourceforge projects remind us how we used to be
Everybody searching for an Office alternative
People need someone to look up to
I never found any open document format
A lonely place to be
So I learned to compile one just for me
I decided long ago
Never to walk in proprietary software’s shadow
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I will live without software patents
No matter what they take from me
They can’t take away my GNU
Chorus:
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening on my PC
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of the GPL
The greatest love of all
Is easy to gcc
Learning to love open source
It is the greatest love of all
